WINE

I love great wine. And I love it even more when I can remember the name of the bottle when I'm at the liquor store! Here are my favourite wines of the moment that won't break the bank:

CANADIAN

I know Canadian wines don't have the best reputation. But everyone deserves a second chance. And the wines below have restored my faith in our local grapes. No one will believe they're from Niagara:

WHITE

Cave Spring- Riesling- 2009
This is the white wine I serve to people who say they don't like white wine. Medium dry with yellow plum notes, it matches well with spicy food, fish or poultry. I can't promise you won't have a bad hangover if you consume the entire bottle, but I can promise its not overly sweet. $14.95 a bottle at the LCBO.

RED

East Dell Estates- Black Cab- 2009
Dark berry fruits, spice on the nose, great tannins- well balanced. A steal at $12.95 a bottle. Thank you Scott Boniferro.

SOUTH AFRICA

RED

Stormy Bay- Cabernet Sauvignon- 2008
A great dry red wine that's worth every penny. And you can't beat $11.65 a bottle. My favourite english mate buys it by the case, and if Mr. Burchinshaw says its good- you can't go wrong.
